Puerto Varas, Known as “The city of Roses”, it is located at the bank of Llanquihue Lake.
It has a privileged view to Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. It is characterized by its old buildings from the last century, surrounded by gardens. It also has a casino.
An interesting tour is to go to Niklitschek Beach, located 7 km away from the city. It is surrounded by nature; or to go on an excursion to Peulla to know and enjoy the Saltos del Petrohué, and sail on Todos los Santos Lake. Here, tourists can take romantic cruises on sailing boats and others with a bar that is open at night.
Another possibility is to sail from the Cruce de Lagos, to Peulla and arrive finally in Bariloche (Argentine). If the tourist prefers action, then climbing the Osorno Volcano is the best option as well as to do rafting or kayaking in the Petrohué River and in its surrounding areas, to participate in horse ridings or go fishing.
This zone is well known for its pastry, based on German recipes for kuchens and marmalades
